Description
1984 Mercedes Benz 380SE 3. 8L V8
MOT, Tax and ULEZ exempt
A light project currently being used for the daily commute.
I bought this 380SE a few months back with the idea of being able to use for it for motorway journeys, etc. It’s had a full service, including oil and filter change, fuel filter change, new plugs but I don’t have the time to do the car justice and would love for it to go to someone who does.
There are a couple of issues which are reflected in the price. The main issue is the Warm Up Regulator which leads to the car running rough when cold. After approx. 15 minutes, the engine runs smoothly and it’s a joy to drive but until then, you need to ride the manual choke. Warm Up Regular rebuild kits can be purchased for around £50 but I haven’t got round to doing it. The other issue (though probably a very quick fix) relates to a small fuel leak which developed a week or so ago. I’ve stopped driving it as I haven’t had the time to get it fixed but it’s coming from near the recently replaced fuel filter so I’d imagine it’s an easy fix. It’s made me reluctant to start it since and anyone driving it away would need to come with basic tools and take a look at it first (or get it recovered)
Good bits:
- Paintwork is excellent
- Interior is relatively clean
- No ULEZ, MOT or Tax to pay (historic vehicle tax class)
- Very fun to drive
Bad bits:
- Wipers not working
- Small fuel leak
- Warm Up Regulator needs rebuilding/ replacing
