This is the nicest of these Nineties Uber-Barges we have seen in many a year! This is a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL, the last year of production, only 46k Miles from new with nearly every MOT to show! Our car is finished in Metallic Anthracite with Grey Velour Interior and has some lovely options including Air Con and a sunroof! We have a large but not full history but the condition must be seen to be believed!
If you want a classic super-saloon you could do a lot worse than one designed with Italian flair, and built with German engineering. That’s exactly what you get with the Mercedes W126 SEL. The W126 Mercedes S-Class range was available to the public for a 14-year period between 1979 and 1992, a relatively long production run at the time but one that speaks volumes as to the correctness of the car’s original design and engineering. The second model range to bear the S-Class designation, the W126 was originally offered as a three-box saloon with either a straight-six or a V8 petrol engine, or a turbocharged diesel. The model name still reflected the engine capacity back then which means that the 420 SEL you’re looking at here is fitted with the 4. 2-litre V8 engine. When new it delivered 228bhp and 229lb-ft of torque – giving a 0-60mph time of 8 seconds and on to a top speed of 135mph. The S-Class has always been a luxurious car and the SEL was the biggest and best of the bunch, its long wheelbase offering superb comfort for all passengers.
Our car was Registered on the 2nd January 1991, making this a late facelifted model, much more attractive than the early Eighties versions, and left the factory as you see her now, we have MOT's going back to the Mid Nineties backing up the low mileage you see today of 46k. The car has a current MOT with No advisories at all, and looks absolutely superb. She also drives really well although has not covered many miles in the last few years, mainly being on show in a car collection. The condition is superb, the colours are perfect and the 420 SEL V8 is a really lovely model, the mileage is pretty unrepeatable and she is ready for her next owner! Perfect as a daily classic, Modern Mercedes have nothing on the W126!
