Description
Citroen Cx 2400 GTi 1979
Sold new in Portugal, later imported to Switzerland in the early 90’s. Taken off the road in the late 90’s and then imported into the uk in early 2022.
It is a 2400gti (non turbo) series one car. 5 speed, Electric front windows and sunroof, power steering and brakes, front fogs and rear spoiler, leather interior and various stainless steel Pallas trims. Alloy wheels inc. spare, over 40 years old so does not require Tax or MOT and is Ulez compliant.
Does not have air conditioning
It’s shows 57000 kilometers which is definitely 157000km, 97, 500 miles
It has a fresh MOT as of last week, August 2026 expiry.
I purchased the car as a non runner from the importer in July 22.
It required a fairly large mechanical overhaul to get back on the road, which I got carried away doing, work carried out as follows.
Fuel system; Petrol tank removed acid cleaned and painted, new filler neck hose, fuel lines flushed, new Bosch fuel pump, new Bosch injectors, new fuel filter.
Cooling system; new rubber hoses through out, nos water pump, new radiator, new water pump drive belt. New coolant and system bled.
Brakes, new front discs and pads including handbrake, new handbrake cables, good condition second hand rear discs, new pads.
Hydraulic system, various new seals, 4 new suspension spheres, new accumulator sphere, reservoir flushed and filters cleaned. Run on hydraulic system cleaner for 500miles before being swapped to LHM, one rear pipe replaced and system bled.
Suspension, new rear arms with bearings, new ball joints, new lower front arm bushes both sides.
New track rod ends both sides and inner tie rods, new track rod boots. New Cv joint boot.
Engine, plugs and leads, oil and filter, new air filter, gearbox oil changed. New rear silencer. Nos starter motor. All new belts.
Electrical, tidied up some wiring, new battery, replaced bulbs as required, everything works as it should apart from the engine oil level gauge which requires refilling.
4 new correct Michelin MXV tyres in 185 R14
The interior was removed completely, every piece scrubbed, carpet shampooed, leather treated and lightly recoloured, dash is immaculate. The door cards have the usual warping and splits from the sun. Electric windows and sunroof work as do all dash and warning lights. Has an 80’s tape deck which is temperamental. Leather is a bit stiff and has had some minor repairs but overall good and very comfortable.
Exterior, the car presents very well, stainless is in good order, headlights are good. Tail lights are good, one has a very small crack. One door handle is scrapped. One Front indicator lense isn’t the best.
But, it is various shades of red from paint work over the years, it has rust showing in the door bottoms, front lower edge of front wings and one sill. This is all standard Cx stuff.
It has no rust around the sunroof, windscreen, rear arches or floors which are the areas that kill these cars. It has a chassis so does not effect MOT.
Featured in classic and sports car April 2023, I probably have a copy somewhere.
Comes with Haynes manual and 2 parts of the genuine Citroen workshop manual.
It’s a lovely car, drives beautifully, exceptionally comfortable and draws a huge amount of positive attention. Not enough time or space means it needs to go. It needs someone to use it and appreciate it.
