Description

Here we have something very special. First Registered on the 17th June 1993 and sold new by supplying dealer, Olds of Puddletown to The National Trust for use on their Purbeck Heath reserve where it was fitted with a water tank and pump for use as a reserve fire tender on the heathland, this explains how during their ownership of some 27 years it had only clocked up some 51, 000 miles and had remained in such amazing structural condition (likely it would have been used during the summer months only and with very limited exposure to road salt). In 2020 The National Trust disposed of it to the local mechanic who had been tasked with maintaining it for them for the previous few years, he intending to remove the rear body and convert it into a camper – thankfully it came to me before this happened. When I acquired this superb Hi-Cap in early 2021 it was in remarkably well preserved condition, it is worth remembering that commercial Defender 110’s tend to have had a very hard life and consequently have very low chances of survival – this example had the best bulkhead I have seen on a Defender of its age with no previous repairs and none needed and the only chassis repair that had been carried out was a very untidy “MOT standard” plate welded on the rear face of the rear crossmember. When sold the vehicle will go back on its original “K” prefix registration number (with its original Olds of Puddletown dealer supplied plates), it comes with its original book pack, original service book and continuation service book from my ownership along with both sets of original keys. Original dealer supplied service book with vehicle factory sticker showing the engine and chassis numbers match, history within to 42, 329mls in 2001 when the book was Full. I replaced the original seats which had become very tatty and unsupportive with a set of new, period correct, seats from Exmoor trim in the correct grey vinyl, I also sourced a new old stock set of rear sticks and bought a new sand canvas from Exmoor trim.
