Description
We are excited to offer this one of 2 S-Type demonstration police cars ever produced by Jaguar.
Jaguar’s attempt at reviving its extensive association with the police service years after providing the likes of the iconic MK2 and other sports saloons in previous decades resulted in this, an unescapable 3. 0 V6 paired with a manual gearbox, superb handling and ride quality built around the most luxurious interior the force had seen, exceptional for keeping the British highways in order, in which it did superbly, having been evaluated for use by 30 of the country’s 52 forces. Comprising of all the extras you would expect of a car of such class including the “Nimbus” cloth interior, air con, heated mirrors, automatic headlights and traction control just to name a few. Performance improvements came in the form of an SVO handling pack and also uprated rear spring and dampers. All of the emergency equipment was fitted by Woodway Engineering, of which included the lights, siren, loudspeaker, etc, which all still are working.
2 demonstrator models were ever produced for evaluation, this being the one in the more usual “Battenberg” scheme. T801 BRP has appeared at many events over the years, mostly in the year 2000 which included the Millennium festivities, the Isle of Man TT, the British Grand Prix and the Conservative and Labour Conferences. In 2001 the car was donated to the Jaguar Heritage Trust for display at the museum at the Browns Lane Head Office, until being purchased by the previous owner in 2009.
Purchased by its current vendor 4 years ago, this example still continued to live a well used life, taking part in extensive police displays and arena pursuits. The car has previously been MOT’d every year passing without fault, however its most recent one expired in June. We are told that the Battenberg livery is still largely original, however noticeably tired in some areas, being retained to sustain the originality by the owner. The paperwork that comes with the car is very extensive, containing every aspect of its working life and assessments by trialling forces along with all other relevant documentation. Additionally there are some extra things included with the sale such as: police coats of the period, breathalyser and a 1:43 and 1:76 model of this car produced by the manufacturers are also supplied for the new buyer too.
The buyer of this vehicle must comply with road regulations and cover the Police signs whilst driving on public roads. Viewings strictly by appointment only.
