1976 Moto Morini 3½ Sport
Registration no. SBR 317P
Frame no. A/ 3* 09868*
Engine no. unable to locate

Before the arrival of its family of 72-degree v-twin roadsters, Morini's reputation had rested mainly on its highly successful double-overhead-cam single-cylinder racers. An entirely different approach was adopted for the v-twins: each cylinder's two valves were pushrod-operated by a single camshaft, while the combustion chambers were located, not in the flat-faced cylinder heads, but in the piston crowns. Coupled to a six-speed gearbox, this superb motor made for a level of performance that belied its lack of capacity, endowing the lightweight, nimble-footed Morini with a top speed of around 100mph. Sport and Strada (touring) versions were made, early models having drum brakes, later ones discs as in this case.

According to the accompanying V5C document, this Moto Morini 3½ Sport was 'registered and/ or used' and first registered in the UK on 1st June 2013. (The accompanying dating letter from Classic Services was issued in 1998, perhaps suggesting that the Morini had been in this country for some time before registration). Hand-written notes on file outline the starting procedure and refer to the installation of a Boyer-Bransden regulator/ rectifier. Purchased by the deceased owner in April 2023 and dry stored, the machine was used sparingly before his passing and will need recommissioning before returning to the road (the engine turns over). Offered with sundry MoTs, a workshop manual, and an invoice for a cam belt dated December 2022.

£1, 800 - 2, 400
