Description
This beautiful matching numbers BSA Gold Star BB34GS500 Touring still has its original registration number issued in 1954, which is valuable in its own right. Incredibly it is complete with its original Certificate of Engine Performance, with engine build specification and there is also among the fascinating provenance file the original BSA Running instruction card.
This is one of the rarest of all Gold Stars as in 1953 BSA introduced the new swinging arm frame, with the BB engine. This bike dates to the last year of the BB series with the new CB frame. It is still fitted with its original Girling shock absorbers and Amal 10TT/ 9 carburettor.
As you probably know most of these were sold in Clubman's trim, but this is a rare genuine Touring trim model dispatched from the factory on 7th April 1954 to dealers Godfrey's of West Croydon and registered with the Croydon number MRK 343 in June 1954.
A Mr Bob Gardiner bought the machine from two brothers who ran an engineering business in Potters Bar in 1985. It was sold out of storage and Mr Gardiner then had the bike restored to add to his collection of documented and historically important motorcycles. The machine retains many of its original parts.
It is complete with its tool kit, and even its pump.
I purchased the machine a few years ago to add to my collection of show winning and show ready motorcycles.
It is now time for me to reduce my collection and so it is your opportunity to acquire this magnificent example of British motorcycle history.
Feel free to come and view the bike or call me and do WhatsApp me if you would like to have all of the photographs which show every detail of the motorcycle. Just say "Gold Star photos please." The 73 photos comprise 23 that were taken in outside. The remaining 50 were taken just a few weeks ago indoors, after I had freshly re-detailed the bike.
