The yellow headlights of this charming Innocenti S Spider-highly characteristic of the French specification-suggest that it was originally delivered in France. Its license plate, 9542 AF 92, from the Hauts-de-Seine, a historic hub of the French automotive industry, dates roughly to the early 1970s and indicates that it likely had at least two owners before joining the renowned Roger Baillon Collection.
Baillon, a true automobile enthusiast, began building his collection in the early 1950s. He dreamed of creating a museum and stored the cars he acquired in hangars. Unfortunately, financial difficulties in the 1980s put an end to that dream and kept these beautiful sleeping cars out of public view for nearly four decades.
It was in 2015 that the entire collection was dispersed in a public sale, during which the current owner acquired this Innocenti. Among the cars on offer was a notable Italian cousin... a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder.
While a complete restoration will be required, this rare Innocenti S Spider represents an enticing opportunity to revive a beautifully styled Anglo-Italian sports car with a distinguished French provenance and Baillon Collection pedigree.
