A wonderfully honest post-war 1947 Hillman Minx, dry-stored and impressively solid throughout. This rust-free example has been lovingly maintained by an ex-RAF serviceman as a personal tribute to his years in the Royal Air Force, carrying RAF Wartling / RAF Rye markings in period style.
The Minx was a staple of Britain’s immediate post-war motoring revival—simple, durable, and dependable. Many RAF stations used Hillman Minx saloons during the late 1940s and early 1950s as light staff transport and runabouts, valued for their reliability and ease of maintenance. This car reflects that heritage with genuine pride, and comes with excellent service history, period documents, and historical records (see photos).
Condition
Bodywork: Exceptionally tidy with no visible rust to the panels, lower doors, sills, or underside areas visible in photos.
Storage: Long-term dry storage, which shows in the solid structure and preserved interior.
Interior: In good, presentable condition for its age.
Mechanical: The engine reportedly runs well and the gearbox is in good working order.
Electrics: The car has been standing for some time, and we are advised that the wiring will need attention or a re-wire. Given the simplicity of these Minx electrical systems, this should be a straightforward recommissioning task.
Summary
A charming and historically significant part-project Hillman Minx with RAF tribute livery, solid bodywork, good mechanicals, and excellent provenance. Ideal for an enthusiast wanting an easy recommission of a genuine post-war classic with a great story behind it.
