Lot 74
2003 Jaguar XJ 4. 2-Litre Super V8 S/ C Auto Sports Saloon
Registration no. ET03 VXR
Chassis no. SAJAC74R13TG08453
Engine no. unable to locate
Introduced in 2003, and the first Jaguar to be designed under Ford's ownership, the X350 platform represented the latest (third) generation of Jaguar's immensely successful XJ6 family, which had caused such a sensation on its debut in 1968. Its overall styling excepted, the newcomer represented an almost complete break with the past, featuring an all-aluminium body/ chassis and new, larger displacement V8 engines, as well as increased interior and luggage spaces. There was also air suspension front and rear, providing adaptive damping and rear self-levelling, with computer-controlled ride height. Dynamic stability control and traction control were standard. Only one transmission was on offer: a six-speed automatic sourced from ZF.
In his book, The Jaguar File, Eric Dymock quotes one motoring scribe's enthusiastic reaction to the new model: "What a Triumph. It has the quietness and poise of a Rolls-Royce, the ride and handling of a BMW, and the engineering integrity of a Mercedes-Benz." When equipped with an Eaton supercharger, the '4. 2' V8 had 390bhp on tap, which was good enough to propel Jaguar's luxury flagship to a maximum speed of 155mph.
Purchased by the current private vendor in 2023, this 4. 2-litre supercharged model has had only four owners from new. Little is known about its previous ownership. Used sparingly and kept in dry storage while in the vendor's care, the XJ currently displays a total of 80, 541 miles on the odometer and is MoT'd until January 2027. The car is offered with XJ handbooks; a V5C Registration Certificate; various invoices; and some expired MoTs. Offered with key.
£6, 000 - 10, 000
