Description
There’s something undeniably special about an honest, unspoilt TR6 and this one wears its years superbly well.
A wonderfully original fuel-injected example, this 1973 car presents exactly as you’d hope from a machine that has been cherished rather than restored into oblivion. With just 76k miles recorded from new, supported by a substantial history file of maintenance invoices and receipts, there’s a reassuring sense of authenticity here that’s becoming increasingly hard to find.
Ownership is equally reassuring, with just 7 former keepers across 52 years.
The bodywork is pleasingly honest, showing signs of age and use consistent with an unrestored car. It hasn’t been dressed up or overdone, leaving the next custodian with a choice: preserve and enjoy as-is, or take it to the next level with a sympathetic restoration. Either way, it’s a wonderfully usable classic today.
Mechanically, it’s exactly what you’d want — everything works as expected, including the overdrive, which is often a point of attention on these cars but here performs just as it should.
Continental Contact tyres fitted all round, with excellent tread.
Supplied with two original keys.
Original Triumph rubber and wool mats still in place.
Original rosewood steering wheel included (currently fitted with a smaller, more usable alternative)
And then there’s the story.
This particular car, ‘ULW 676M’ may well ring a bell amongst TR6 enthusiasts. Its previous owner was none other than the Head of Design at Corgi Die-Cast Models.
During his ownership, this very TR6 was chosen as the inspiration for a production run of 1:43 scale models, with all 1, 500 examples replicating this exact car - registration, specification, and trim.
Naturally, one of these collectible models accompanies the sale.
Tax and MOT exempt, as expected.
A charming, usable classic with provenance, originality, and a story to tell for future generations to come.
An ideal summer companion - to enjoy immediately, while leaving room for future enhancement should you wish at your leisure.
