Every so often a model comes along that rewrites the rulebook for sports motorcycles, one of the most influential of modern times being Honda's FireBlade. Designed by Tadeo Baba and launched in 1992, the FireBlade blew away the opposition - principally Yamaha's FZR1000 and Suzuki's GSX-R1100 - with its combination of litre-bike performance delivered by a 600-sized package. Superbly styled and evocatively titled, it was recognised as a future classic almost immediately, and early and unmolested examples command high prices today. Progressively developed over the last 40-plus years, the Blade has occasionally fallen behind the opposition but today's version is back at the top of the tree, as evidenced by Honda GB works rider Tommy Bridewell's overall victory in the 2023 British Superbike Championship.
Offered here is a stunning example of the original and much sought-after 1992 twin-headlamp Honda CBR900RR FireBlade, finished in the rare Black and Grey colour scheme. The Honda has been signed by its designer, Tadeo Baba (see picture on file) and also by former racer Steve Plater, winner of the 2009 British Supersport Championship while riding for Honda. Purchased in May 2014 by the private vendor, the FireBlade has been dry stored since acquisition and currently displays a total of 51, 552 miles on the odometer (same mileage as the last MoT in 2014). Following a period of inactivity, recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent will be required before this motorcycle returns to the road and thus it is sold strictly as viewed. The machine is offered with an original Bridgestone poster displaying the FireBlade; a Honda FireBlade poster, bike cover, a V5C Registration Certificate; purchase invoice; expired MoT's; range brochure; Haynes workshop manual; owners manual signed by Tadeo Baba; and various other documents.
