The elegance of the MV Agusta F4 has always held a magical fascination for onlookers. But beauty is fleeting. And because inner qualities are becoming increasingly important, the designers have given their flagship model a facelift in many details.
Ride-by-wire transmits commands from the throttle to the central control unit. With this technology, the MV also offers the different riding modes “Rain,” “Normal,” and “Sport.” Depending on the setting, power delivery, torque curve, throttle response, engine braking, and rev limit vary. The fourth mode, “Custom,” allows riders to freely combine individual parameters from the other modes. For example, the rider can combine the higher engine braking torque from Normal mode with the more direct throttle response from Sport mode.
Also on board: eight-level adjustable traction control, lean angle and acceleration sensors, anti-wheelie control, and an automatic gear shifter. The highlight: The Quickshifter works for both upshifts and downshifts—a first for production bikes! MV riders quickly get used to shifting into lower gears without pulling the clutch or double-clutching. The F4 does the latter automatically: just close the throttle, shift into gear, wham, done! Thanks to this fabulous feature, the rider can focus perfectly on a late braking point and the ideal line when turning in.
There’s even better news regarding the engine. The engineers have installed the short-stroke “Corsacorte” power unit from the
