“Very good overall condition, significant recent works”
Innovative and elegant, the Lancia Appia came in three bodies from 1953 to 1963. At the Geneva Motor Show 1959, the third series is recognisable by its unprecedented rectangular grille, a mark of recognition for Lancias built under the reign of the firm’s new owner, Carlo Pesanti.
The Series 3 offered a remarkable compromise between comfort and performance thanks to a more powerful engine (48 hp) with a new cylinder head, electric starter, reinforced clutch, 14-inch wheels instead of 15, etc… making it the fastest in its class at 135 km/ h. It also innovates with its double braking circuit.
Our example was originally sold new in Milan. It is in Lot-et-Garonne that the previous owner, an important Lancia collector, acquired it in the late 1990s. In fine original condition, it was nevertheless fully restored while taking care to preserve as much as possible. It joined the current owner’s collection, also a keen Lancia enthusiast, in 2024.
The latter has given our Appia a substantial amount of care, including a complete restoration of the front suspension, the braking system, a carburettor overhaul and a general service.
Here is a superb alternative to the – much more traditional – rivals, now in superb working condition and presentation, at a price as reasonable as can be!
