Born in 1972 this 1300 Beetle has won many awards consecutively. It is totally original and has only had 4 owners. It hasn’t had welding and has its original paint. All the panels are original and the wheels are original “Lemmerz” ordered from the factory as a dealer accessory.
The History:
The “Brilliant Orange” trophy magnet was bought from the dealer from new in 1972 to Raymond Clarke from Rotherham. He then went on to own and care for it for 42 years. He looked after it so well up until he was no longer able to when it was time to sell, the original dealership (under “The Gilder Group”) bought it back to use it for promotional purposes. They transported it around their 19 showrooms to show her off until 2017 when it came up at H&H Auctions in Cambridge. From there it was purchased by another dealership in Furness where it spent just over a year on display before being purchased by Allan Haddow of Grantham in 2018. Mr Haddow spent 7. 5 years with her before the current owner took ownership in February 2025.
The history itself tells a story of care and love and this is reflected in the work and effort put into keeping this beetle in fantastic condition. She has a 1285cc engine and any work done has been kept as close as possible to factory standards and genuine parts.
Although it is Tax and MOT exempt the owners have had it MOT’d back to 2006 and it has not once received an advisory or failed. It is flooded with green pass marks. The current certificate is held until 10 June 2027.
