Fine Lines Classic Cars are delighted to to be able offer this exceptional 1975 Ford Granada Mk1 XL Coupé, an increasingly rare and highly desirable example that has spent virtually its entire life under the South African sun before arriving in the UK in 2023.
Finding a genuinely rust free Mk1 Granada is now exceptionally difficult. The vast majority of UK supplied cars succumbed to corrosion many years ago, with surviving examples having undergone extensive welding, replacement panels and major structural restoration. This car represents a completely different proposition. Having spent its life in South Africa where salt was never spread on the roads, it retains an extraordinary level of originality throughout its body structure.
The condition underneath is quite remarkable. It still retains its original sills, original floor pans, original outriggers, original front and rear panels together with all of its original rust free body panels. It is increasingly rare to find any Mk1 Granada that has escaped the ravages of corrosion in this way, making this example particularly appealing to collectors and enthusiasts who value originality above all else.
Finished in its beautiful original Ford Daytona Yellow, the paintwork presents immaculately and perfectly complements one of Ford Europe's most elegant and timeless designs. The Mk1 Coupé accounts for only a small proportion of those surviving cars. Within that already very small number, it is believed by marque enthusiasts that only around thirty to fifty South African imported Mk1 Coupés exist in the UK, with perhaps only fifteen to twenty five currently licensed for road use. Opportunities to acquire such an original, rust free example are therefore exceptionally few and far between.

Originality cannot be recreated and the cost of returning a heavily corroded car to this standard would far exceed the premium commanded by a genuine rust free survivor such as this.
