We are delighted to offer for sale this iconic Peugeot 205 GTi 1. 9, finished in arguably the very best colour of all, Miami Blue.
Few cars can genuinely lay claim to being the greatest hot hatch of all time, but the 205 GTi has a very strong case. Lightweight, beautifully balanced and full of character, it remains one of the most rewarding driver’s cars ever produced.
Examples like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and this is very much a case of “they don’t come around like this very often”.
Sourced from a private collection, this was already an exceptionally clean example when we acquired it. Rather than simply putting it straight up for sale, we entrusted the car to the experts at Pug1Off for a comprehensive mechanical inspection, adopting an open-chequebook approach to addressing anything requiring attention, both now and in the foreseeable future.
The resulting work totalled over £5, 000, with highlights including:
* Major service, including all filters and spark plugs
* Cambelt and water pump replacement
* New HT lead set
* Differential seal replacement
* Two new drop links
* Two new ball joints
* Track rod arm and end kit
* Two new lower wishbones
* Baker BM oil breather hose kit
* Wheel bearing replacement
* New rear exhaust silencer
* Two new Bilstein rear dampers
* Coolant system flush
* New brake discs and pads all round
* New valve stem seals
The fuelling and ignition systems were also correctly set up to ensure the car drives beautifully.
With the mechanical work completed, attention turned to the bodywork. Pleasingly, the underside is completely free from corrosion, with Matt at Pug1Off specifically commenting on the car’s “corrosion-free” bodyshell.
The paintwork is equally impressive, presenting beautifully without the unwanted marks or blemishes that can let otherwise promising examples down.
Inside, the car is among the best we have seen. It retains its factory radio head unit and has the feel of a well-loved, unspoilt example that has clearly been cherished rather than abused.
The alloy wheels have been professionally refurbished, and we have fitted four brand-new Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, completing a package that looks fantastic and is ready to be enjoyed.
