Description
A very complete example of a Gilbern GT1800 for restoration, it is a well known car, a photo of this car appeared in an article by the late Bill Boddy in the December 1981 edition of Mayfair. The original MGB 3 bearing unit and 3 syncro gearbox have been replaced by a 18V unit and 4 syncro overdrive gearbox. The car has been off the road for many years but benefits from a stainless steel fuel tank, re-chromed bumpers and some new front brake and suspension components.
Recently the floors were removed and the car was sent to Ivimeys of Bromyard for its chassis to be rebuilt. All the new steelwork is currently in red oxide primer. The rear tow-bar mounting has also been removed. This is an ideal project for somebody, the bonus being starting with a rebuilt chassis, the car is fitted with a fabric sunroof. Any new items required for the rebuild are either MGB or available from the very helpful Gilbern Owners Club.
Further specification/ photos available on request, transportation can be arranged.
