VW SP2 coupe 1975
Super rare in the UK, this is the chance to grab a bargain head turner and a unique car that’s a good addition to any VW collection. More information can be found on - details above but there are plenty of threads and sites with SP2 info scattered about the web.
Originally only sold in Brazil the SP2 (Sao Paulo) did get exported to a small amount of countries but was never produced in RHD or delivered to the UK, although there are 3 or 4 of them known in the UK. This is a UK registered car, has had 8 owners since 1975. I have the V5C and its HPI clear.
I bought the car with every intention to restore back to originality but I have other projects that are ongoing that need time and money, so it is reluctantly for sale. Just been removed from my long term storage. The car is now rolling and we have just fired up the rebuilt engine which is running well. No MOT
Originally the car was yellow but was painted red some time ago. I would paint it back to its original bright yellow with the red side stripes as it was back in the day.
The engine has already been rebuilt, detailed and put back in the car when I bought it and has just been started up after a few years sat idle. 88, 000 miles.
The main work is obviously the rust. The chassis and main structural areas of the car are all solid but its areas like bottoms of doors, tops of wings, bonnet lips etc that will all need fabrication work as no new panels are available but you may find second hand stuff in Brazil. It is missing one rear light, again, these are available second hand.
Interior is also very good, seats are great, will need new carpets and missing a door handle, window winder. But I would say its virtually complete with most interior bits easy to source from other VW Type 3 etc.
