Recent exceptional full restoration of a rare left hand drive four speed manual 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL in its original colour combination of Tobacco Brown & Bamboo leather interior, dark brown soft top with beige carpets.
Original USA delivery of this numbers matching 280SL Pagoda, fully restored in Europe to a very high standard to European bumper & light specification by a Mercedes Benz Oldtimer restorers in Belgium. The restoration consisted of a full bare metal repaint, complete strip down & rebuild of engine & ancillaries, transmission, front & rear suspensions, all to concours detailed specification. The interior leather trim & carpets were restored as was the hard top which was stripped right down to bare frame & painstakingly restored to its original specification.
Desirable factory options included White Wall tyres, Chrome moldings to hardtop for roof rack or ski rack, tinted glass, power steering.
Tried & tested by Parry Chana with perfect panel gaps and deep lustrous paintwork happens to be one of the finest driving Pagoda’s he has had the pleasure of driving in concours condition seldom used in dry conditions since the full restoration. Unlike the sluggish automatic transmissions, this four speed manual is unique in making for a sporty driving feel & pulls very well with an abundance of power. Assisted by fuel injection & a light clutch with power steering makes this car usable for every day driving to today’s standards.
