EXTERIOR
This rare CL 65 is a real feast for the eyes, a significant pillarless GT with gorgeous styling and unique presence at the curb and on the move. To the CL’s already slick long-nose exterior AMG adds subtle enhancements including new front fascia with larger cooling ducts, integrated fog lamps, sculpted side-skirts, bright “V12 Biturbo” badging and a pair of twin pipe chrome exhausts. It certainly looks the part, and so it should in an era when 600hp was the reserve of the Hypercar!
The Brilliant Silver paint presents very well with a deep lustful shine. There are no signs of corrosion and all of the chrome and plastic trims are in excellent condition with lights and glass free from chips or cracks.
INTERIOR
Opulence is an understatement when it comes to describing the interior of this CL. The cabin is a professional affair; a typical combination of Mercedes luxury and efficiency with the latest in technology and AMG performance upgrades. Safety is also paramount, thanks to an airbag selection that includes head curtain and side impact airbags for all four occupants. The leather AMG sport seats feature 14-way power adjustments, heat, ventilation, and an active lumbar massage system, while the AMG leather-wrapped steering wheel has a power adjustable tilt and telescoping column, along with the manual shift controls. Seats exhibit a matte appearance with minimal wear to report.
Standard CL 65 amenities include a high power CD changer stereo, DVD navigation, and dual-zone automatic climate controls. The rear seat is big by coupe standards with a power rear window sunshade helping to maintain both temperature and privacy. The clean cargo space is a coupe-generous 12. 3 cubic feet.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with a bored-and-stroked high-pressure-turbocharged version of the V-12 engine found in the stock CL600, the coupe produces 604 horsepower and a rib-cage-flattening 738 pound-feet of torque between 2000 and 4000 rpm. To achieve this AMG have increased the cylinder bore by 0. 6 millimeter and lengthened the stroke by six, ending up with 5980cc of engine displacement. AMG-spec forged pistons with thicker wrist pins fit inside the new holes, where they are cooled by an upgraded oil-spray system.
The combustion chambers were reshaped for a 9. 0:1 compression ratio, and the intake camshafts have higher lift and longer dwell. Both turbochargers have larger housings and wheels and pump 1. 5 bar of boost via a front-mounted air-to-water intercooler that is about 70 percent larger than the stock item. The power is alarming, yet utterly smooth – quite some achievement from the engineers at Affalterbach.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The spotless split rim bi-color alloys are wrapped in a matching set of ContiSport 2′s – all displaying ample tread depth.
The front brakes are mammoth 391mm units with eight-piston calipers – a match for the 2 tonne kerb weight, easy to modulate and with good initial bite.

Supplied new to Japan in 2005, this V12 has been serviced at 8, 134kms, 28, 935kms, 44, 477kms and 48, 504kms with all supporting invoices accounted for.
