History of the Austin-Healey 100-6:
The last year of the Austin-Healey 100-6, 1959 marked the final production of the BN4 Austin-Healey model. It was also the first complete year of production after the company’s move the MGs factory in Abingdon. This move also coincides with the arrival of the new and improved 117hp engine, which added much needed performance over the Austin-Healey 100-4, for which the 100-6 was designed to replace. There is some blurring of the factory crossover though, so some of the cars are known to have received their new engine prior to the move at the Austin-Healey factory in Longbridge. Regardless, the 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 is often considered the finest example of the BN4 lineup, because it offers all the changes that happened over the models production life. If you are thinking about buying a 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6, be assured that it is often considered one of the most desired of the British classics.
