1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC
One of the fastest rising stars of the classic Mercedes stable. The C126 was blessed with one of the most elegant, handsome designs that Bruno Sacco penned. It continued the tradition of the 60s/ 70s W111 coupés into the 80s with aplomb. Of the SEC coupés, the 560 is the one to have and was the most expensive and most powerful car Mercedes made at the time.
This 560SEC was supplied by Portmann Mercedes Manchester on 22/ 09/ 1989. It’s finished in the gorgeous colour combination of Pajett Red metallic with Mushroom leather interior. Unlike other Mercedes where most equipment was optional, the 560 came highly specified with air conditioning, cruise control, electric/ memory seats etc. In addition, this car has a driver’s airbag and heated seats.
There is a Full Service History from new comprising of 26 stamps in the original service book. The car has all books/ manuals and a folder of receipts covering the last twenty years. Clear HPI Certificate.
The mileage is 157k miles however in 1995 at 60k miles, the car had a replacement speedo fitted by Mercedes – as shown in the history – so the mileage displayed is 97k miles.
The last owner had the car for 19 years during which time it was always garaged.
As the photos depict, the car is in good clean condition. The body is straight and the paint finish is good with the expected few minor marks/ blemishes commensurate with age. The panel under the rear window has been replaced a number of years ago and the rear screen is good. The bumper chromes are excellent, just one bubble on the offside rear.
The interior is very good and original - excellent woodwork and leather, original velour over-mats. All the electrical accessories work perfectly including the sunroof, seats, set belt butlers and cruise control.
The engine runs very well with perfect temperature and oil pressure readings. New front brake calipers have recently been fitted along with an exhaust centre section.
