SUMMARY
Supplied new by Mount Garages, Mercedes, Huddersfield, this is a superb, last of the line W202 C220 CDI Classic Selection; a special edition model, made for the last year of the W202's production life. Being the last of the W202's made, it features the later OM611 2. 2 Litre Common Rail Turbo Diesel engine, which is refined, quiet and gives superb economy and performance. The later 5 speed, tip-tronic automatic transmission is also fitted to these later W202's, which further maximises the engines capabilities, and makes for extremely comfortable, swift and economical cruising.
The car was owned for the obligatory two years by a company, then sold under Mercedes' Signature Used Car scheme to a more mature gentleman, who owned and cared for it in the ensuing 14 years. He was clearly very proud of this car, and looked after it like a baby, even keeping a hand written log of everything he spent on the car, including fuel!. He also insisted that only genuine Mercedes parts were used too. As you can imagine, this has paid dividends, and the car still feels tight and fresh, almost as you'd expect a new car to feel.
These later models are quite a rare and somewhat sought after incarnation of the W202, as they combine old Mercedes values with more modern engineering, which I have to say the combination works very well indeed, and makes this a highly practical (some might even now say Classic) car to own, and one you could comfortably use everyday.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
