On offer is this delightful period piece, a 1958 Austin Healey Sprite. The car has been with its current owners since 1973 who have cared for it well judging by its condition. There is a photograph from many years ago showing the car being driven in a speed trial. The car has been in local ownership from new having been first registered by Central Garage, Pangbourne. Both modern V5C and green log book are in hand proving the car to be an original UK market, right hand drive car.

The body is tidy but is solid with no major rust worries. Recent MOT's do not list any particular chassis issues or significant advisories.
The car runs well, it looks like a 1098cc engine replacement has been fitted at some point. It also has had wire wheels fitted along with conversion to disc brakes, we do have some drum uprights if you wanted to convert the car back.
The interior is largely original, it currently has an aftermarket steering wheel but we do have the original, without the centre boss unfortunately.
In our opinion, the car would make an ideal rolling restoration. It drives well, has a peppy engine and a great exhaust note. It stops and steers well but will need thoroughly checking as the car has not been used regularly in the past few years due to the owners age. The bodywork has no significant rust issues but you will notice from the photos that the seams on the front and rear wings have been smoothed over, they are, however, solid underneath.
We would rather not get involved in long telephone or email conversations about every last detail on the car but have some photos of the underneath. Better still, you are encouraged to view the car and we would be pleased to allow you to thoroughly inspect the car on a ramp to satisfy yourself that you know what you are buying. But please be realistic as this is not a £25K show car but a good honest example that has been in constant use and could be improved when time or funds permit. This is a commission sale on behalf of the owner who has reluctantly decided to part with it due to his age. We have a minimum price that we need to achieve for the car and only realistic offers will be considered. The car will be sold as seen and without warranty of any kind.
