Ford Prefect E493A – First Lady Owner 45 Years
Once an everyday sight our 1953 Prefect is a remarkable survivor that has
been loving restored to show condition by the previous owner.
The body work is absolutely stunning, benefitting from a high quality rebuild
and respray some years ago in Ford Fern Green. The original interior has
been treated to new carpets and wool roof lining. Being the higher
specification Prefect the car has four doors, twin wipers with Bakelite
dashboard still retaining the original instruments and switches.
Mechanically the car runs and drives extremely well with excellent engine,
overhauled brakes & king-pins, new wiring/ ignition system with alternator with
the original six volt electrics upgraded to 12 volts. The only addition in the
interest of safety are flashing indicators in place of the original semaphore
arms.
Small family saloons of this quality from the 1950’s are rare. Restoration
expenditure will always exceed the value of the car and final results are often
compromised in order to avoid cost.
Our Prefect is one of the best on the market and we urge early viewing in order
to fully appreciate this extraordinary classic Ford.
