Fantastic example of a now rare classic estate car; very few Carltons left on the road today, even fewer estates. Car is located in south east London. She sailed through an MOT with no advisories, next due March 2019. She's been hired for filming recently and was loved by all!
One owner from new before me, so very low mileage at 77, 500. I bought her just over 1 year ago, however I no longer have the time needed to restore her completely as I had intended.
All in all, not a huge project to undertake, worst things first, needs some bodywork attention - usual problem areas rear arches and front valance behind bumper. Few little rust spots around. Will try to show worst patch in images, could really be a lot worse but will need doing at some point. Few patches on bumpers need painting. Aside from that bodywork and paintwork is in pretty good condition.
Engine and running gear tick over beautifully, I've been running around in her locally with absolutely no problems - starts and stops from cold and warm! Drove her between and London and Gloucester (slowly but surely) several times. Very smooth and refined drive, these were workhorse fleet cars for a reason! Steering could probably do with a balance but not really a problem. You can see some previous fixes here and there, nothing major to my knowledge though.
Interior is immaculate, beautiful brown velour, instant nostalgia trip! Still has all the original features and electronics and they ALL work, including the cigarette lighter and the original Phillips cassette radio! No roof sag whatsoever, carpets are all lovely, seats are still very comfortable. Even includes original 1983 tax disc and dealership sticker! She's been looked after incredibly well.
Other note worthy points, she has 4 nearly new tyres with fantastic wheels, worth a bunch on their own and the central locking still works on all doors! Original maintenance and owners manual, 2 sets of keys, V5 (plus old school V5!) and Haynes manual.
Work done since I owned her includes a full service - new Air and Oil filter, full Oil drain and change, new seat of Spark Plugs, full Coolant drain and change. A small section of flexible fuel line and air ducting was replaced. I also had the rear boot lock re-pinned and now locks and unlocks perfectly! The rear boot struts still need re-gassing or replacing, this was to be my next job.
She really is a beautiful practical working classic, with a bit of work could be a show car. Tried to give full disclosure here, any questions just ask, come and see her she really is wonderful! More photos available on request!
