This superb driving MG TD has recently had £6, 000 spent on mechanical work to include a full gearbox rebuild, brand new clutch, new headlights, new rear brake shoes, two front brake hoses, new rear axle oil seals, new timing cover gasket and seals and new sump gasket. The front end of the engine was stripped to ensure no oil leaks and the car has been serviced with fresh oil, new spark plugs and brake fluid replaced. Other expenditure last year includes over £3, 000 of specialist trimming work to include a new hood, new sidescreens and full tonneau cover.
This TD was brought to the UK from Texas, USA in 2013 and was purchased by a UK enthusiast. The MG was already in RHD format over in the USA and was been subject of various restoration work prior to coming over to the UK. The body was taken down to bare metal and re-painted and the wood frame re-conditioned with various new wood sections. The interior was treated to new carpets, door cards and seats are in excellent order. The dashboard is excellent and all gauges work and are in excellent order.
The 1250cc engine has been stripped, rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded fuel. The carburettor was rebuilt, as was the distributor and all ignition items replaced. The engine presents superbly and has been painted and detailed. The MG is stunning under the bonnet and ready to show. The gearbox was recently rebuilt and brakes and suspension are all in excellent order. The chassis is structurally excellent and has been cleaned, painted black and presents superbly.
On the road this TD performs very well and is tight, precise and very comfortable to drive. The engine sounds fabulous and holds excellent oil pressure. Performance is impressive and the MG runs smoothly and ticks over perfectly. The car has a lovely exhaust note, cruises along effortlessly and is very enjoyable to drive. The last owner has covered around 600 miles in the car and its ready to enjoy.
