Description
MG Magnette ZB – Original & Superb
Built on 23-24 October 1957 our Magnette was despatched to University Motors in London on 28th October. It was supplied to its first owner, Mr Wilfred Owen Stephenson, of Sidmouth, Devon on 1st November 1957 who retained the car for 24 years and then she remained in one family until the current owner bought her in 2012.
The car was first restored in the early 80s after which it won an award at a ‘Z and Y Register’ meeting in 1983. It was restored again in the late 1990s but still retaining all original components at which time it received a bare metal respray in the original colour. The interior is all untouched with the original upholstery, carpets and headlining. The carpets are protected by thick over-mats.
The engine bay is remarkable, the only modification being electric screen washers (original Trico glass bottle with car). The boot is in lovely order with the original mat, boarding and toolset comprising the original jack, wheel brace, starting handle and hand tyre pump. The spare tyre is unused.
Recent work has included a full check-up during which the starter motor was replaced (original 1957 one in spares box), new coil, plugs, points, HT cables, fuel pump, refurbishment of the twin SU carbs and a general tune-up which has resulted in considerably improved performance.
Comes with all manuals, a box of spares, a large history file and a new MOT.
Exceptionally original, low mileage/ ownership examples of Magnette’s are highly desirable and we expect this car to find a new home very quickly.
