SUMMARY
Previously sold by me, this is a beautiful example of the much sought after W124 Estate, with the legendary, stoic OM603 Six Cylinder diesel engine and super smooth automatic transmission. It also features the very useful seven seat option too. Now, if you've been looking for one of these legendary cars, you'll quickly realise that most are well past their best now, as the majority have been a victim of their success and have led very hard lives. You'll be glad to hear this is certainly isn't one of those; this car has let an extremely charmed life and has been carefully maintained by very sympathetic owners with the means to look after it properly.
Originally supplied by Rybrook Cars Ltd, Mercedes of Shipton-on Cherwell, Oxford, this W124 has had four careful private owners and its quite clear that this has been a very well looked after and cherished example, unlike the vast majority now on offer, with many having sadly having been used as tradesman's vans. Also, at 124, 800 miles, it's well below average mileage too, and even though these cars will cover half a million miles with complete ease, its nice to find one that's been used sympathetically, and not as a commercial vehicle. This is directly reflected in the way the car drives, and feels on the move; after a few minutes you actually forget you're driving a diesel powered W124. I have to add here its one of the nicest W124 estates I've driven in quite some time, its just so relaxing.
I've always maintained, and now it's widely accepted that these earlier cars are so much better made than the later face lifted W124 (made 1993 onwards), and although the 12 valve OM603 "Six" may lack some of the refinement of the later multivalve OM606 diesel, it more than makes up for it in simplicity, durability and longevity.
So there you have it, an extremely well looked after W124 300TD (TD doesn't denote Turbo diesel, but Touring, as in Estate, and Diesel) in beautiful condition. There's not many good ones of these left now, and I'm almost tempted to keep this as the MTSV company vehicle. This is car you could jump in, and drive it to the South of France without any concerns, and take six of your friends with you too!.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
