Description
MG RV8 - Power Steering & Hardtop
The early 1990’s success of the Mazda MX-5 and various TVRs prompted Rover to re-enter the sports roadster market with the RV8 in 1992. The 3. 9 litre V8 delivered 185BHP to the rear wheels through a five speed gearbox giving impressive performance – 0 to 60mph in under six seconds and a top speed of around 135mph. Production was limited to approximately fifteen cars a week (the price tag was in excess of £26k) and under 2, 000 were manufacture making the RV8 and extremely rare sight on British roads
Finished in Woodcote Green our car was a personal import from Japan in 2006 and has covered just over 10, 000 miles in the last eleven years in additional to the 30, 000 kilometres covered in Japan from new.
The car drives extremely well. The previous owner, an engineer, carried out all his own maintenance with annual oil changes and service parts including a reconditioned rear axle. In addition the car benefits from MG Owners Club power steering conversion, EPROM management chip, RPi ignition amplifier, an exceedingly rare Clive Wheatley hard top in body colour and original half & full tonneau covers.
The areas that cause concern on RV8’s – the three ‘W’s (Windscreen, Wheels & Wood) - are all outstanding with immaculate wood/ door veneers, excellent leather and all wheels are factory fresh with new tyres fitted last year.
Historically the RV8 has been undervalued by the market but prices have risen sharply over the past two years. This example is one of the best we have seen and we recommend early viewing in order to fully appreciate this stunning example
