1990 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC
Mercedes’ flagship coupé of the 80s is a true design classic - elegant, handsome and timeless from every angle. Designed as a GT car, par excellence, they were the privilege of the few costing in excess of fifty thousand pounds.
This 500SEC was built in the model’s last years, and features the most powerful iteration the the 5-litre engine, producing 265bhp. It’s one of the most desirable models of SEC. This example is equipped with a leather interior, cruise control, air conditioning, electric/ heated seats and so on, as you might expect for this class of Mercedes.
This is a car that will suit an enthusiast who is looking for an SEC to use, enjoy and improve. It has 12 months MoT and is a ‘on the button’, running and driving car.
In recent years the car has benefitted from a complete repaint in Champagne Gold, together with a new panel under the rear screen. The rear screen has been replaced and is in perfect condition – a big plus as these are very expensive. A new genuine battery has been fitted, new front dampers (Sachs) plus many other parts from Mercedes as listed in the folder of invoices.
As the pictures show the car presents very well and looks very smart indeed. The paintwork is excellent bar a couple of very small blisters and the bumper chromes are very good. Similarly the interior is clean and tidy with very good leather to the seats.
The engine runs very well and maintains excellent oil pressure, the gearbox changes smoothly and the differential is quiet.
The mileage recorded is 109k miles, however we believe the true mileage to be around 200k miles. Perhaps the speedometer has been changed as is reasonably common on these.
There is a folder of recent bills, clear HPI Certificate and two keys with the car. The private registration number goes with the car too.
