EXTERIOR
The menacing Ash Black bodywork presents to a near perfect standard throughout. There are almost no blemishes to speak of and the paint retains a sharp metallic flake on close inspection. Having clearly led a pampered life the car is surprisingly free from any of the usual road rash to the front end, including to the front splitter. On close inspection you'll notice very few stone chips and no damage or moisture to any of the lenses. Furthermore, as one of just seventy right hand drive Monte Carlos produced you would be hard-pushed to find another low mileage example in such fine condition.
INTERIOR
The attractive Motorsport interior remains in spotless condition throughout. The cloth upholstery shows zero signs of any wear and the deep velour bolsters are without any wrinkling or damage. The rear seats appear to have been rarely sat in, and the interior trim presents just as well. The dash, fascia, and centre console are all pristine and the switchgear presents as new. In the foot-wells the carpets are protected by a set of tailored mats, and the boot area is entirely unspoiled.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine bay is in very good unmodified condition. There are few signs of wear, with absolutely no evidence of any damage or poor repair. The two-litre Cosworth YBT engine, easily recognisable from its blue cam cover, has been well maintained from new despite covering so few miles in the last 23 years. The cambelt has been replaced at least three times in the car's life, and was most recently changed at 29k miles.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 16-inch rally-style alloys help set the Monte Carlo apart and really fill the arches nicely. The wheels remain in superb, unmarked condition with absolutely no curb marking or age-related wear. Present with the correct OZ detailing and Ford centre caps they are shod in a matching set of Avon Turbospeed tyres, each with plenty of tread remaining.
HISTORY FILE
The Escort was first registered in July 1994 and was supplied new by Bristol Street Motors in Bromley. The stack of paperwork is accompanied by a selection of dealer-supplied handbooks in the original wallet, an RS sales brochure, and the March 2007 issue of Performance Ford in which this example was featured. There are plenty of old MOT certificates and tax discs also present in the history file, as well as numerous invoices for maintenance carried out over the years. The service history is as follows:
