FOR SALE

IMMACULATELY RESTORED, AEC / Park Royal ex-London Transport ROUTEMASTER

RML 2759 (SMK 759F)

£63, 000 (No VAT)

HISTORY

The penultimate Routemaster, RML 2759 was delivered in 1968, and for over 37 years served London Transport from garages north and south of the Thames, the early years being spent at Croydon (TC) and Stamford Hill (SF) garages. Re-engined with an Iveco engine in 1991 and refurbished in 1993, RML 2759 spent the last 10 years of London service operating for Arriva London from Brixton (BN) and Battersea (BA) Garages on routes 19, 137 & 159

The bus had the privilege of operating in service on route 159 on the very last day of normal Routemaster operation in London, December 9th 2005. The bus spent most of the next 10 years in store, but in 2015 - 2016 was completely restored, largely to its 1968 condition

RESTORATION

The restoration process was jointly undertaken by Ward Jones Commercial Motors, High Wycombe, (mechanical), Routemaster Restoration Ltd, St Neots, (bodywork), and Avery’s Commercial Paintwork Specialists, Leighton Buzzard, (internal and external respray), with the recovering of the seating in tartan moquette, with red leather edging, being undertaken by Paul Toomer in Eastleigh

Since the restoration, RML 2759 has performed a small number of wedding private hires during 2016 / 2017, and the bus has featured on the front cover of the latest edition (summer 2017), of The Routemaster Handbook. However changing personal circumstances of the owners are now dictating the sale of the bus

With the last fleet numbered Routemaster (RML 2760), being in the possession of The London Bus Museum, this will be an opportunity to acquire the highest fleet numbered Routemaster ever likely to come onto the market, and one that saw continuous London service from delivery in 1968 to the very last day of normal Routemaster operation, December 9th 2005
