Ford Escort Mk3 Ghia – Show Car
The third generation Escort was launched in September 1980 and was a completely new "wheels-up" design, that was conceived as a hi-tech, high-efficiency vehicle that would take on the VW Golf. The biggest changes from the Mk2 were the move to front wheel drive with hatchback body and the new Escort quickly became Britain’s bestselling car.

Milestone Classics are delighted to have sourced one of the best, top of the range, Mk3 Escort Ghia’s that you could hope to find. The previous owner spent over five years stripping the Escort to a bare shell and rebuilt the car to his own exacting standards.
Everything was kept to original specification apart from the radio/ cassette and the addition of a later five speed gear-box to make the car more capable on modern roads. Panels were replaced as required and finished in the original colour of metallic green – underside included. The earlier cylinder head (casting number is 81SM6090) is rare and suitable for tuning/ fitting of 45mm valves.
There is a small history folder with the car including details of all five owners, driver’s handbooks, invoices and previous MOT history.
The Mk III used to be a common sight on the road but today good examples are extremely rare and highly collectable. As XR3’s race up in value the rare Ghia makes a great alternative and this car is ready to win prizes for the lucky new owner.
