MG Magnette ZB Varitone – Fully Restored
The ZA Magnette was introduced in 1953 and sold well thanks to its excellent road manners and traditional leather-upholstered interior, the latter featuring a beautiful wood-veneer dashboard and ‘semi-octagonal’ instrumentation. The upgraded ‘ZB’ introduced 1956, gained a more powerful engine and - in the range-topping Varitone version - a wraparound rear window and two-tone paintwork. Top speed rose to 90mph, making it the UK’s fastest 1. 5-litre sports saloon of its day
Our Varitone Magnette was originally registered in London during 1958 and underwent a complete body restoration in the mid 1990’s. At the same time the car benefitted from an engine bottom-end rebuild and the installation of a new clutch, water pump, radiator and brakes. Today the car drives superbly and, over 20 years and under 5, 000 miles since the original restoration, still presents in stunning condition. The test of a quality restoration.
Finished in two-tone Ash Green/ Black with red leather interior, this is a lovely classic car that attracts favourable attention wherever it goes. The vehicle is offered with large history folder containing invoices & MOT’s back to 1983, a period Weber carburettor and painted wire wheels.
This is one of the best Magnette’s we have ever seen and recommend early viewing in order to fully appreciate this stunning sports saloon.
