Ford Cortina Mk1 – GT Recreation
Our four door, (airflow) Cortina was originally exported to Australia as a CKD model in 1966 and was designated locally as the ‘440’. The car was purchased and re-imported into the UK in 2012 by a professional engineer who was seeking a rust free car to restore.
On arrival the car was beyond his expectations with strong mechanics, absolutely no corrosion with excellent paint and he quickly decided to recreate the car that he had always dreamt of as a youth. A pre-crossflow 1500GT engine was sourced along with GT struts with callipers/ discs, 5. 5 inch rims added and he had the car of his dreams!
The body is the original ermine white colour complemented by two-tone blue interior (with front bench seat), original blue carpet, GT dash (4 dials + speedometer and rev-counter) plus wood-rim steering wheel with Cortina boss.
The pictures indicate what a remarkable survivor this Cortina is. The car has never been welded, has zero corrosion and the in-period upgrades make this a highly desirable Ford that will find an appreciative owner quickly.
