2005 Lada Niva 4x4 with 17, 500 miles (28, 000 km).
Model 21214: petrol with Bosch 1. 7 multiport injection. Left hand drive (but that never really caused us any problems). Located in Liverpool.
The multiport fuel injection and engine management system is a Bosch system.
The car was bought new by family friends in France in 2005 as a second car after a snowstorm and basically sat in their French barn for the next 6 years and was taken out very rarely. We were given it in 2012, by which time it had done 2, 000 km and we imported it into the UK. We only use it as second car and, again, hardly use it except it in the summer and run it along the dual carriageway to North Wales and, for all it virtues, Nivas aren’t really designed for cruising. Hence the 17, 500 miles to date all done on nice solid roads. It is now time to rationalise down to being a one-car family so we are reluctantly selling it.
We have all the documentation, original French purchase receipt, importation paperwork, MOT certificates etc. We also have a “Certificate of Conformity” which basically says its built to EU standards and makes it straightforward to import/ export between EU countries. We also have the French headlights (for countries that drive on the right), the original dashboard insert (calibrated for km/ hr), roof rack, small box of spares (spark plugs, oil filter, windscreen wipers, spare number plate for bike rack, etc) .
Its an easy car to work on. There is lots of documentation on line and various user forums around the world. Spares are very inexpensive and easily obtained in the Uk from Lada Spares in Liverpool (- details above) or from continental suppliers e. g. (- details above details below/)
Its worth having a look at the last website just to see how ridiculously inexpensive spares are.
Very good condition. It was a working French barn and there is a dent in the top of the front bumper (see photo) of unknown origin. Also various minor paint chips inexpertly filled in my me, more to prevent any rust than for perfect cosmetics. I didn’t do too bad a job imho and I’m sure anyone who knows what they are doing could re-do and improve on them.
I’ve just had it MOTed ahead of schedule, so now have MOT until 31st March 2019; no advisories on MOT.
Price? Hard to tell. We also went through all the hassle of importing it and paying the double road tax in the first year. I typed “Lada Niva a vendre” into Google looking for French prices. You can guess the content of the advert even if you can’t speak French. Best site actually seemed to be in Belgium:
