Exceptional Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG Estate, Alabaster white, 37, 453 miles from new. Completely standard unmolested car. Awarded Grade 4. 5, highest grade possible for a 2005 model year, complete with all books, 2 original Mercedes key fobs and a full service history file, just one previous Japanese owner from new. Mercedes AMG engineers developed the C55 AMG using the front end structure from the W209 CLK model which is 8cm longer in order to accommadate the 5. 5L M113 handbuilt AMG V8 and with a C32 AMG sitting next to the C55 in the workshop recently it's clear to see the front end is longer on the C55 model. The chassis of the C55 benefited from a whole raft of improvements over the earlier model in a bid to cure the earlier cars tendency to understeer on the limit and sharpen up the overall driving feel,, this included a new steering rack at 2. 7 turns lock to lock, 14mm wider track up front, 20% firmer springs and dampers all round and reset suspension geometry, the end result was a much more of a driver focused machine than the earlier model and the C55 was able to lap the Nurburgring an impressive 15 seconds quicker the the C32 AMG at the same time matching the E46 M3's lap time.
Power comes from the near bullet proof 5439cc M113 handbuilt V8 engine producing 362bhp and 376ft Ibs of torque at 4000 rpm giving effortless straight line shove when needed. Performance tests at the time revealed its ability to accelerate from rest to 60mph in just over 5. 0 seconds with 100mph coming up in 11 seconds with a top speed limited to 155mph. Engine bay is as expected for such a low mileage example being extremely clean and free of corrosion and leaks. With engine undertrays removed the engine is bone dry with no leaks from the RMS etc. We will be giving the car a fully synthetic oil/ filter service as part of UK preparation.
This example is fitted with its original 18” C55 AMG staggered alloys in perfect condition with no scratches with 225/ 40 92Y sports tyres fitted at the front and 245/ 35R18 97Y sports tyres on the rear with plenty of tread depth remaining. Large 345mm discs up front with 4 piston calipers and 300mm discs at the rear ensure the car has the brakes which are the equal of the engine. We noted upon close inspection the brake discs all round show hardly no wear with at least 8mm of brake pad left. It’s quite evident that this example has’nt been driven hard.
Condition underneath is fantastic with all suspension components looking clean and fresh with absolutely no rust and just a light dusty coating from normal use, this example was originally supplied new in Japan and has seen no salt in it’s life and underside condition reflects this, it could easily pass for a near new car underneath that’s been on the road a matter of months!Crucially being supplied new to Mercedes-Benz Japan this example suffers none of the the usual corrosion issues which affect European market examples. Galvanised panels also featured on the W203 C55 for the first time.
Interior condition is exceptional, this being a non-smoker car, rear seats appear like they’ve never been sat in, Front drivers drivers seat forward bolster has no creasing further indicating genuine low mileage and light use this example has had. All interior plastics are in superb order and no beautifying products have been used on the interior as we want to show off this cars interior in it’s true condition. The standard Mercedes stereo and navigation is fitted . We also noted the boot carpet shows no wear and feels as new to the touch indicating it was’nt used for carrying loads. All original tools, warning triangle etc are present and correct along with an original set of spare wheel nuts. Two original Mercedes fobs are also present with the car complete with keys for manual access if required.
Test drive reports no faults as expected for a C55 of this genuine low mileage, these cars are simply superb to drive!the bullet proof 5. 4L M113 engine, renowned for its reliability is smooth and powerful with superb torque when needed for overtaking, the 722. 6 autobox, rated to over 700 ft Ilbs is smooth and slick in all modes and unstressed in this application and suspension feels taut and direct, just as a very low miles example should.
These cars are becoming extremely difficult to find in RHD spec with very low mileage and in exceptional conditon such as this example in Japan.
