SUMMARY
Originally supplied by Riverdale Pangbourne, way back in July 1986, this is one of the very first of the six cylinder W124's to hit the UK market, as such is quite a unique and beautiful car, and has quite an unusual specification.
I acquired the car through a good friend, who I've bought several cars from over the last few years. He's known the last few owners of the car, and has owned the car himself since 2016. Although it's slightly higher mileage and had a few more owners than the cars I usually sell, I feel that the unique nature of the vehicle, coupled with the fact that it's simply one of those cars that you can't help but like, go someway towards mitigating that. Also you do have to bare in mind the car is almost 32 years old now, so is actually well below average mileage.
Although I've done quite a bit of preparation (see details below), given the mileage, I've not gone to the extent I go to with lower mileage vehicles, therefore there are a few things that the new owner may want to attend to, if he/ she wanted the car to be perfect; these are:
* Outside Temperature Gauge display screen has bled
* N/ S Headlamp Motor doesn't always work
* There's only one key
* A small area of scuffing on the drivers seat bolster will need attention at some point in the near future.
However, here's what I have done…
* Oil/ Filter Change + small service/ inspection
* Take Vehicle for MOT - pass No Advisories
* Replace front timing cover oil seal (common source of oil leaks on the M103 engine)
* Replace front brake pads
* Replace drivers door check strap (paint in 702 Smoke Silver prior to fitting)
* Replace passenger side mirror back
* Replace driver's door mirror
* Lubricate drivers door window mechanism
* Wash underside/ wheel tubs/ engine bay.
* Clear lacquer coat wheel tubs and suspension components.
* Dynax coat wheel tubs/ suspension components
* Fit replacement radio (New JVC KD-G111)
* Fit electric aerial with correct W124 rear wing grommet
* Replace fuel pump relay
* Remove battery & battery tray, clean and lacquer area
* Replace battery tray
* Dynax coat under & on battery tray area
* Detail engine bay.
* Replace air cleaner top engine bay warning notice.
* Refit door bottom trim on front doors
* Replace various clips, fasteners etc.
* Replaced four tyres
* Replaced four wheel trims
The car is in excellent condition and comes with an extensive history file, in addition to the original service booklet, which contains 29 stamps, the majority of them from Mercedes Main Dealers and MB Specialists. As you'd expect of any well looked after Mercedes, even at 32 years old, it drives superbly and keeps up with (and passes if so desired) modern traffic; the quality of these cars is such, that it's difficult to believe its almost 32 years old, when you're behind the wheel.
So if you're looking for an early, mechanically sound and beautiful W124 saloon, this has got to be a contender, as I've said previously, its one of those of cars you cant help but like!.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don't just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won't notice... I just couldn't do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth... the ultimate accolade for anyone in business.
Any other questions, please feel free to contact me at using the button below or on the details below. I'm a firstly and foremostly a true Mercedes enthusiast of many, many years, and a Mercedes Club Member, so it's a pleasure to meet and speak to like-minded people.
Finally, I'm situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire (Postal Code Area BD21) which is approximately 11 miles from Skipton, and 20 miles West of Leeds.
All major debit/ credit cards accepted.
