Selling on behalf of a customer, Roman Garages has a freshly imported Mercedes W108 280S Automatic. This is a 1968 4 door saloon car coming to us from Canada and has a recorded mileage of 72500. Although it requires a little recommissiong or light restoration for its UK MOT and registration, it is a very sound basis for easy improvement.
This 280S has the twin carb engine developing 140bhp and 163 lb ft of torque. Its starts and runs very well indeed. It is fitted with the automatic gearbox and all the gears select exactly as they should. An unusual feature on this car is air-conditiong which does run, but possibly will benefit from regassing. The seats are in very good condition, both front and rear, and the dashboard layout overallis very tidy. In the boot is a 6-CD multuichanger in working order! The brakes will need attention, and the body, although basically good, and nice looking in its cream paintwork has a few areas where rust is starting. Nothing major, but will need some work in due course. There is also a rust hole about the size of a 10p piece in the inner wheelarch area both sides.
The car comes with its owners manual and air-con instruction book, but doesnt have a comprehensive service history. It has clearly been well looked after in its life to have survived 50 years.
