The Appeal
Cast your mind back over a hundred years, and there are certain elements in which motoring hasn't changed. Even back in the heady days of 1917, people were looking for a simple, easy-to-drive horseless carriage that wasn't going to break the bank. With all of the big marques getting their feet, it was a deeply competitive market, too. Model years could sometimes be little more than model months, such was the pace of innovation.
The D35 was one of these rapidly changing cars. First introduced in 1912, it quickly became the centre of Buick's consumer-grade auto division, with a straight-four under the bonnet, a 3-speed gearbox and unfussy, straightforward styling. These were cars that often saw dozens of owners over relatively short time periods, and many were run into the ground. Quite literally if you consider the over-enthusiastic and under-regulated roads of the period.
As a result, this D35 is a particularly rare survivor - characterful in its simplicity and reassuringly tactile. It comes with a wealth of historic patina and is proudly presented to us in unrestored condition — a state the vendor considers irreplaceable. It has been dry stored for years and kept in the seller's showroom since they acquired it in 2023. If you want a veteran in your fleet, this is just the ticket. 01_main202602C&CBuickFXT48478.jpg518.08 KB
