The F Series Victors are quite an endangered species as many succumbed to the ravages of corrosion way before their time. Yet, here is not only a survivor but a very well-restored survivor that looks almost as pristine as the day it rolled off the assembly line. Festooned with American cues that were so popular in the late 50s. Yards of sumptuous chrome, curved front and rear screens, a bench seat and column change make for your very own Chevvie Bel Air lookalike. A bare metal body restoration and a full-engine build ensure you’ll get years of historic motoring from this little gem.

This car comes with a charming selection of period documents and memorabilia. There’s a selection of old Tax Discs as well as some very interesting manuals. A sales advert provides a delightful look back at the days when the Victor was new. There is no indication of who performed the restoration and at what cost, but there is a single invoice for a set of brand-new carpets. The car only changed hands in 2018 and was promptly restored before the recent Pandemic. Even with the absence of any substantial invoice trail, the car appears to have had a substantial amount of time and money spent to bring it to this delightful condition. There has been attention to detail to ensure the car remains faithful to its roots. The mileage is seemingly very low, but it cannot be verified.

These cars came from the factory with the two-tone interior as standard. The body colour continues across the dash and the soft areas like seats, door cards and carpets receive a contrasting blue to mimic the popular style from America. The carpets are new and were professionally supplied and fitted, although the side kick panels could do with a little work. The bench seats front and back are said to wear their original upholstery and show in fine condition, while the new headlining completes an attractive period interior. All the original switchgear is in place but has not been extensively tested.

It is on good authority that the shell of the car was taken back to bare metal before being repainted in the original scheme. Much of the chromework has been saved and the bumpers re-chromed. The lighting is in very good order and is complete with a pair of period-correct spot lamps. To maintain the originality further, there is a charming American-style spot lamp attached to the Driver’s A post. The overall appearance is finished off with a set of hub-capped wheels that are fitted with white-walled tyres.

The 1500cc engine ticks over quietly and the column gear change shifts easily, once you know where the gears are. There are no invoices to clarify the work done to the engine, but the previous owner has made it clear that the engine has been fully rebuilt. Everything mechanical has been kept standard and original to the car. The brakes, gear change and steering all operate as they should, although the steering is heavy at slow speeds which you would expect from a car of this era. The quality of work undertaken to complete this car appears very high and has resulted in the car operating just as it would when first built in 1959.

We are all painfully aware that Vauxhalls of this era are difficult to find as there are so few survivors. The ‘How Many Left’ website suggests a total of a mere 12 on the road at the end of last year. It is not surprising that when one as gorgeous as this one arrives on the market that it will attract plenty of interest. It is ready to enjoy as all the heavy lifting has been done for you, and by the look of it, done pretty well too. The coachwork is in a lovely period colour and the refreshed interior is in an opposing blue. The American influence that was so popular at the time ramps up the sheer charm of this old British Classic. Lovingly restored and ready to be adored.
