The Appeal
When you think of a 98 cc motorcycle, a crude glorified moped likely comes to mind and yet, the Ducati 100 Sport was neither of these things…
Developed for racing where they emerged top of their class, Ducati’s exquisitely engineered four-stroke single was their first to feature an overhead camshaft and it produced a very respectable 10 horsepower. Once running, it smoothly purrs with all the charisma of an engine five times its capacity and out on the road, the 100 Sport could reach speeds upwards of 65 mph in road trim.
Here we have a very well presented example which has been part of a static exhibition in recent years. It’s in excellent cosmetic condition although hasn’t run for some time so it will make a great recommissioning project for the next owner. We doubt it will be too onerous to get that smooth little four-stroke running again and we’re sure this bike’s next custodian shall enjoy looking at it as much as riding it.
The History and Paperwork
- The vendor estimates the year of production to be 1960 as it is apparently undocumented
- Currently wears a rear number plate

The Condition
- It would appear to have been restored in fairly recent years
- All the paintwork has been applied to a very high standard
- Holds a marvellous shine and the two tone blue / silver scheme is very attractive

- The fuel tank looks to be free from any dents
- No significant paint blemishes or scratches evident
- All the brightwork is in lovely order

- The tyres appear in fine shape
- Sporting ‘clubman’-style handlebars
- All the rubber grips and pegs seem in nice condition
- Equipped with a headlamp for road use
- The seat upholstery has no rips or excessive wear evident
