The Appeal
First introduced in 1959, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II shared much with its predecessor but differed most greatly under the bonnet where the old 4.9-litre straight-six was replaced by an L410 6.2-litre V8 that would serve Rolls-Royce in various iterations throughout the remainder of the 20th century.
This 1961 example is presented in lovely condition having been refurbished inside and out. The vendor informs us that it runs and drives very well indeed and attracts admiring glances wherever it goes.

The Interior
- Totally retrimmed

Upon stepping inside, it becomes immediately evident that this Rolls-Royce has been expertly retrimmed. The seats and door cards have been lavishly reupholstered in grey leather and present exceedingly well. The front bench seat remains in excellent condition, the leather beginning to crease ever so slightly but no signs of excessive wear, staining or damage we could discern.
The door cards too look to be in very good order and accommodate the electric window switches - an optional extra introduced on the Silver Cloud II. The headlining is also clean and secure and the same goes for the upholstered inner D pillars.
The vendor informs us that the woodwork has been entirely refinished and the burr walnut appears in fantastic shape, polished to a beautiful shine and without any delamination or finish cracking we could see. The dashboard is particularly attractive in this example and the vendor informs us that all of the switches and instrumentation held within functions as it should. There is a little wear to some of the switchgear labels, although they all remain clearly legible. One thing this car does not lack is tables, with one in the front (complete with ashtray) and two for rear passengers.
The cabin has a fairly new blue carpet which appears in excellent order throughout. The boot is carpeted in black and contains a jack, spare wheel and toolkit.

Refinished in a very fetching colour combination of Diamond Black over Georgian Silver which the vendor reports is a variation on the original colour scheme, making this Rolls-Royce a handsome beast.
The condition of the paintwork appears to be very good indeed, with no obvious blemishes we could see. The bodywork looks good too, arrow straight down the sides with great panel fitment and even door shuts.
The glass is clear, clean and appears free from chips and scratches. The same goes for the brightwork, which you can see your reflection clearly in. There was no pitting or evidence of damage we could see to the iconic Rolls-Royce radiator grill and of course the world-famous ‘Spirit of Ecstacy’ stands atop it.
Underneath, the chassis looks to be in good condition and free from corrosion. The steering and suspension componentry is in good order and the rear leaf springs are bound with gators.
The car sits upon smart wheels, complete with hubcaps and the tyres have ample tread remaining.
The Mechanics

The vendor informs us that the mechanicals have always been attended to judiciously and as a result, this Rolls-Royce is a joy to drive and pulls strongly. The aforementioned 6.2-litre V8 first used in the Silver Cloud II enables this large automobile to exceed 100 mph - quite a feat in its day.
It changes gear as it should via its General Motors automatic gearbox and comes to a stop in a timely fashion.

Here we have a particularly charming example of the highly regarded Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II. It has been subject to judicious servicing and resplendent in its attractive paint scheme and refurbished interior This is a particularly smart example that would be a worthy addition to any garage.
