The Appeal
Starring alongside Sean Connery in the celebrated 1964 film ‘Goldfinger’, the Aston Martin DB5 could justifiably be called the most iconic James Bond car.
If you love automobilia then you’ll struggle to find a piece more iconic than the front end from an Aston Martin DB5.
This piece gives you a real appreciation of how DB5s were made, draping aluminium panels such as this nose over a tubular frame in a technique known as Superleggera construction which was pioneered by Touring of Milan during the early ‘60s.
This truly is a fascinating conversation piece and has great potential to become a piece of artwork or furniture. It may even be able to help in the restoration of another DB5. Wherever it ends up, we’re sure it will look amazing.
The Condition
- The next owner may wish to refinish, or repaint this item
- The entire panel is in one piece of aluminium
As you would expect from a panel that is no longer being used on a car, there are a fair few imperfections in this piece. We think this really adds to its character, but equally the condition is such that it would also respond really well to restoration and repainting in a colour of the next owner’s choice.
We think the addition of some lights and perhaps a grill would really add to its overall appearance, but it is presented here as a blank canvas, upon which the next owner can exercise their creativity.
In its current state, it is fascinating to look at from every angle as you can see exactly how the iconic DB5 was put together in the first place.
Summary
As such an iconic piece of design, it is arguably fit for a museum or art gallery.
For collectors of automobilia, the rare and unusual are always highly sought after and we hope this piece of Aston Martin history will become the most prized item in a collection.
