THE APPEAL
The Jaguar E-Type is a car that needs no introduction, having been voted by the readers of Autocar magazine as the most beautiful car of all-time.
Whether a flat-floor 3.8 or a last-of-the-line V12, the iconic Jaguar sports car is an all-time classic. And this one is an absolute gem – a 1966 late model Series I 4.2 fixed-head coupé, it has been restored with fastidious detail by a well-regarded specialist over a four-year period between 2018 and 2022.
In total, the restoration costs ran to over £146,000, plus a further £20,000 for an unrestorable donor car to ensure it was perfectly detailed. It is presented in truly stunning condition throughout and is an original UK car, with a Heritage Certificate to prove its provenance.
It’s an immaculate, perfectly detailed restoration that will make an exceptional show car or addition to a high-end private collection.

Inside, the E-Type is in beautiful overall condition with stunning leather seats retrimmed in dark green hide, with brand new matching green carpets and floor mats
The door cards and headlining are in equally perfect order, as is the rear load bay which was retrimmed in the same hide as the seats.
All of the dials and controls work as they ought to, while the overall condition of the cabin is stunning, offset by a vast bank of switches and a smart three-spoke wood-rimmed sports steering wheel authentic to the original specification.
It features a polka dot alloy dash and centre gearbox tunnel, while colour-coded inertia-reel seat belts have been fitted for added safety - trimmed to match the main hide and fitted with chrome period fittings.

This is an absolute stunner of a car, having been professionally repainted to a very high standard in non-original Rolls-Royce Brewster Green. The finish is as close to flawless as you’ll find and is quite clearly the result of a top-drawer restoration.
According to the restoration records, the body shell was remanufactured wit new metal where required and new floors, sills and panel sections were added in, with all traces of rust removed before the car was shotblasted, etch-primed, powder coated, and given several base coats of paint and three layers of lacquer. It’s stunning.
The chrome and trim are excellent, with all the shiny parts given a triple-layer chrome finish for extra protection. The wire wheels are spotless and have been fitted with period-correct pattern brand new tyres all-round.
All of the light units were replaced during the restoration, and new rubber seals and body fittings all-round.
THE MECHANICS
4.2-litre straight six XK engine

Suspension, braking system and steering completely overhauled
Under the bonnet you’ll find Jaguar’s venerable 4.2-litre XK engine, completely stripped down and rebuilt during the car’s restoration, while a Tremec five-speed gearbox upgrade has been caried out – the original transmission comes with the car, should you favour originality.
No mechanical detail has been missed. As well as the complete engine overhaul, including block, crankshaft, camshafts, cylinder head, valves and guides, timing chains and gears, it has had a renewed or refurbished starter motor, alternator, battery, distributor, pulleys, pumps, belts, brackets, pipes, induction manifolds, exhaust manifolds, clamps, hoses and heat shields, plus a full stainless steel exhaust.
The fuel system has been comprehensively overhauled and has a new tank, hoses, metal pipe clips and clamps, filters, pumps and carburettors, while the rear axle has been refurbished and the entire rear suspension replaced.
In addition, the cooling system and all steering parts have been refurbished or replaced.
SUMMARY
This is a stunning example of the a late Series I E-Type – beautifully presented inside and out and restored to an impeccable standard, well worthy of showing or adding to a collection of immaculate, iconic classic cars.
It’s a truly gorgeous example in wonderful restored condition, of a standard that will be nigh-on impossible to surpass.
