The Appeal
Throughout the seventies and eighties, Burlington Cars was a well-known kit car company creating models with classic 1940’s styling and the underpinnings of Triumph cars.
The Beretta is a two-seat roadster with a long bonnet and swooping front wings similar to cars like the MG TC of the late-forties.

Simplicity is the best word to describe the interior of this Burlington Beretta. Forget creature comforts like a radio or cup holders, in this car you don’t get much more than a few dials and some soft coating around the edge of the dashboard.
The steering wheel has a small diameter, perfect for getting the most feeling from the car on a narrow B-road and is mostly made out of wood, the same material that coats most of the dashboard.
The seats are surely not built for long journeys though nor is the rest of the car. But we can imagine it being a lot of fun on a tight and twisty road.
Harnesses hold you and your passenger in place while a fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell inspires all the confidence in the world. Found behind the seats is a bracket upon which you can see a cover for protecting the passenger seat.

The long bonnet, large swooping wings and wire-spoke wheels of the Baretta are elegant throwbacks to a time when a car was a luxury item.
The pretty colour and quality of the paint work back up the fact that this may be a kit car, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve the acclaim of any other model.
Look around the body and you will spot some blemishes in the paintwork including several scratches. The underside of the bonnet also shows quite a few inconsistencies in the gorgeous red paint. But this car is all about enjoying a beautiful car without worrying about surface damage.
Underneath, the signs of age are more obvious than on the body.
Under the stylish body that makes the Burlington Baretta so special is a Triumph GT6. The chassis along with the suspension components, brakes and engine all come from the small early seventies sportscar.
An engine capable of putting out 104hp when new, along with a lightweight chassis, the Baretta should be a great driver’s car. The two-litre inline-six in question looks in good condition.
This particular Burlington Baretta has to be one of the best-looking kit cars around.
A very well put together body combines vintage class with the internals of a more modern machine. We can imagine it bombing down country lanes in warm sunshine grabbing the attention of absolutely everyone passing by.
