The Appeal

The Airstream name is synonymous with the open road and sheer retro glamour. With its riveted aluminium shell and unmistakable silhouette, the 270 Excella motorhome represents the pinnacle of Airstream's craft. No ordinary RV - it was a full-sized, self-contained home on wheels powered by a proper American V8. These iconic vehicles have graced NASA launch sites, Hollywood sets, and festival fields alike, and their cultural cachet has only grown with time.

Imported from the USA at some point in its life, this 1985 example retains its original layout, appliances, and a wealth of charming period features including a doorbell, an external collect call port, and even an integrated blender built into the main counter. Beneath that gleaming aluminium skin sits a 7.3-litre Chevrolet V8 which, we're informed, runs well and sounds fantastic. An LPG conversion has been fitted, though it will require servicing before use.

We're told that this handsome Airstream has been barn-stored throughout both the current and previous ownership, with a dehumidifier kept running inside in winter to keep the interior in fine shape. The water pump and storage tanks are reportedly in working order, and new engine and domestic batteries have been fitted. The upholstery has undergone a light refurbishment, while the exterior has deliberately not been super polished, preserving its originality.
