The appeal
The Bentley was purchased through Car and Classic, but the new owner came to know the previous one through the enthusiast club dedicated to the Bentley model range. Both being keen enthusiasts for the marque and the model they both knew what to look out for and how to take care of these big beasts.
The current owner has arranged a deal to purchase one of his dream models of Bentley so this one is going up for sale again much to the reluctance of the current owner however as they state this is such a good example. We spent quite a bit of time around the car both static and driven and we can say our experience was a good one with no issue presenting themselves on the day. During their time with the car though, the current owner has gone through the car fixing, upgrading and swapping parts to bring the car back up to their exacting standards.

The Bentley has been enthusiast owned for much of its recent history and during their custodianship each owner has contributed to fixing and improving little parts of the car whilst enjoying the cruise-ability of the big Bentley. The car comes with a huge stack of history, receipts and invoices for all this work all fastidiously kept in a neat and tidy folder.

The Interior
- Original sheep skin rugs so deep pile you could lose your sandals in them
- Leather upholstery has had recent attention to bring it back to wonderful condition

As you’d expect with a Bentley, the interior is luxurious and plush with great condition wood trim everywhere, picnic tables in the backs of the seats, fantastic condition leather upholstery and original sheep skin over-rugs that have been professionally dry cleaned. The interior of the Bentley is in remarkable condition inside with high traffic areas having little to no damage or wear and tear to be seen, the upholstery has recently been treated to a going over by an upholstery painter with the leather being filled in and the piping being given some more vibrant colour.

The Exterior
- Brand new headlights without yellowing of the glass lenses

The exterior of this 34-year-old luxury is remarkably good, the only issues to be found are small sections of the rubber bumper coverings and some very minor surface corrosion around the back arches where stone chips are most prominent. The paint is still in great condition with no swirls, very little, if any scratches, stone chips or dents. The wheels are in fantastic condition also, with very little lacquer peel or curbing.
The brightwork, lights and grille have also faired very well over the car’s life with the flying B standing pride of place at the front of the bonnet. One such addition mentioned above would be the brand new headlights which have done away with the previous ones yellowing of the glass lenses, with shiny new front lights, years have been taken off the look of the Bentley whilst also adding some significant safety at night.

As with the rest of this car the mechanicals and the drivetrain of the Bentley are in great condition, the engine jumps into life with no squeals or knocks and idles comfortably on tick over. The turbo spools up nicely and provides a nice boost to the slightly barge like nature of the big Bentley. During the test drive the Bentley’s powerplant pulled strongly and did so with grace and composure, not so uncouth as to shove you back in the seat, more persuasively ushering you to alarming speeds ever so quickly
The mechanicals of the Bentley are as stated all in working order, meaning the big luxury cruiser is ready to enjoy on the road straight away. The current owner has also had some big mechanical parts fixed and replaced at a local specialist, for example the gearbox has been given a recondition and the steering rack has been rebuilt and refurbished to ensure no leaks. In addition the underside has been professionally wire-brushed and coated in Lanoguard. A considerable sum has gone into this car’s mechanicals to ensure its fighting fit and ready to go.
Summary
Bentley’s have built a solid reputation for providing reliable, luxurious and prestigious grand touring cars for the discerning motorist. They usually always demand the utmost of care and love from their owners and this one is no exception; it really does speak for itself and comes across as a cool classic and powerful long-distance cruiser.
These cars will always hold their value if they are maintained and cared for properly and more importantly used regularly which fortunately this one has been thanks to some conscientious and enthusiastic owners. The current owner has spent a lot of time and money on getting this Bentley looking and performing its best and we think that it remains one of the better examples out there.
